In May 2007, the readers of Dagbladet Børsen were introduced to a new venue: an online version of the daily paper was set up using the Zmags platform. All articles, images and ads from the print version were included. The reader has the opportunity to flip each page as one woujld a physical copy.
“We needed to fresh up our online version of Børsen”, Nicki Green, Product Manager at Dagbladet Børsen tells.
“We saw the solution from Zmags interesting, as they could offer a present design that meets our readers’ demands. We also weighed the possibilities to affect the development highly, as we needed some features not yet developed”.
The reader can zoom in closely on each page in the online version. For paying subscribers, there is also an option to print. Each subscriber is assigned a username and password to access their copy of the paper daily. By publishing their paper online, Børsen has managed to expand their area of coverage and offer foreign subscription.
Børsen is published Monday to Friday and hits newsstands at dawn. Consequently, a PDF version is uploaded at the same time and converted through Zmags API, an automated version of Zmags Publicator with access from external systems. For Børsen, a fresh paper using their custom made template available daily.
Nicki Green explains:
"It takes some resources to get the systems work properly, of course. From the beginning of the project we had a short deadline, so a few troubles were experienced in the beginning. However, we knew about that risk, and we have met the will and the skills from Zmags to solve the problems in the bud. Overall our expectations are clearly satisfied."
