Lacrosse is big in US, and now the popular sport has a great interactive catalog, too. In fact, the Lacrosse 2010 Catalog from Dick’s Sporting Goods looks so good that we awarded it as Zmag of the month.
Great design and a myriad of small effects that improves product presentations and the overall reading experience are the main reasons for selecting the Lacrosse 2010 Catalog as the winner. The interactive catalog was produced with assistance from the creative team at Studio, Buffalo, NY, who put together the catalog with Lacrosse spectators and players in mind. Candace Hicks, Manager of Digital Design at Dick’s Sporting Goods, explains:
This was an exciting project to work on… as I too played Division 1 Lacrosse in college (at George Mason University).
With this catalog, we held nothing back! Through the use of animation, sound effects, zoom- in features and embedded video… I believe we achieved the task of keeping the customer engaged.
Not only does the catalog look great, the Zmags Analytics shows some impressive results since the catalog went live in January ’10. The share of visitors zooming on the pages was 109%, which means that a visitor on average zoomed on more than one page – that number is more than double as high as the average for Zmags publications. In addition, the overall Click-through rate exceeds 25 %. These stats show that readers are highly engaged and find something interesting in the interactive catalog. Most of the links lead directly to Dick’s Sporting Goods’ online shop, where readers can continue shopping.
