The trend of Flash-empowered publications seems to be a rapid growth. We dove deeply into our overall stats database and found some key figures.
As Zmags is a Software-as-a-Service solution, all our customers’ publications are stored on and delivered from our servers. With an expanding customer portfolio of over 2,500, the overall stats serve as a solid data basis for some overall trends in the market.
Here are five facts about the usage of Flash publications in 2009:
- In total, Zmags converted and activated 55,141 PDF files to Flash publications last year. That is more than 150 daily activations, which means a final version of a Flash publication that is delivered to the audience.
- Average reading time per visit was 5 minutes and 27 seconds. Compared to an average consumer-oriented website, this number is far above the industry average. This is a clear indication that Flash publications are great for attracting readers’ attention and keeping their interest while they browse through the publication.
- Average bounce rate of activated publications was 29.6%. This means that 7 out of 10 readers found the entry page interesting and decided to read more pages. Most websites struggle to keep the bounce rate below 40%; this is another sign that Flash publications are good attractors and easy to use.
- Average number of daily readers was 390,537 in 2009. Due to our expanding customer base, the number of total daily visits on Flash publications was as high as 708,038 on November 26th.
- Every second around the clock, 60 pages are flipped in Zmags’ Flash publications. In peak hours, we have measured this number to be as high as 250 page flips every second.
A lot of growth backed up with a lot of numbers. Feel free to add a comment if there are some specific areas you would like to see the trends for.
